WCF Granting Guidelines & Evaluation Criteria

Please note that available income does not permit assistance to all applicants.

  1. Westminster College Foundation provides grants to registered charitable organizations in London, Ontario and surrounding area in support of youth and seniors whose programs or projects advance or assist with education, health and/or spiritual care. However, other programs/projects may be considered on an individual basis. All applications must provide clear and concrete objectives for which they are requesting funding.
  2. The maximum grant available for program/project initiatives is $20,000.
  3. Capital project initiatives will be considered if there is a demonstrated need and request falls within maximum $20,000 amount of available funding.
  4. Only non-profit charitable organizations with a charitable registration number in good standing are eligible to apply for a WCF grant.
  5. Organizations requesting funding must demonstrate that they have a strong committed Board, fiscal responsibility and management qualifications.
  6. Grants are not made to support base operating expenses (including administrative salaries) of applicant organizations. However, salaries and expenses directly related to the program/project will be considered.
  7. Any type of an administration fee tied to a request will not be funded through the grant.
  8. Grants are not made to establish or add to endowment funds.
  9. Any portion of awarded grant funds not used or required to complete or meet the approved objectives, must be returned to Westminster College Foundation.
  10. Follow-up reports indicating actual outcomes will be required from all successful applicants.

Evaluation Criteria

  1. Funded programs/projects should show creative development of new initiatives that make a difference, and are not considered just status quo. The budget submission supporting the request must specifically relate to the new initiative.
  2. Programs/projects should have a definite purpose, covering a specific period of time and ideally will continue to have an impact after the grant is expended.
  3. Preference will be given to funding requests that have at least 50% of the funding from other sources.
  4. Pilot projects must include provision for evaluation and a financial plan for continuation of the project beyond the pilot stage.
